Diana Weynand
Adventurer in Charge
M.M. Ed., M.M.A.

I surfed the wave of cutting-edge technology in the film and television industry for much of my career. Sometimes it was daunting to step in front of a piece of high-end production equipment and figure out how it worked. Each challenge was like a mental game of chess—a game I ultimately came to love.

After solving the operational puzzle, I would write about it, develop curricula on it, and then teach it to high-level operators and artists who had specific needs and requirements for their upcoming film and television productions.

Now, I want to share how to "crack the marble" so you can apply these mental chess skills to anything in your life and career. The truth is, we don't have time to learn everything about everything. We have to be selective. Cracking the marble is a metaphor for finding our way through the maze of options and focusing our time and intent on what we want and where we want to go.

There's another important skill I learned getting my Masters in Music Education. In the privacy of a practice room with just me and Chopin, I was able to master a classical piece by breaking down phrases and repeating them until the notes were mine, until my fingers could find them each and every time—even if I was blindfolded. This is the power of baby steps and it must be applied to any project or goal to ensure success.

Coming full circle—from music to media and back again—I've combined my "Baby Steps" approach and "Crack the Marble" technique as the basis for my unique Mastermind Your Life coaching curriculum.

A Deeper Dive....

The first side of my life was filled with music—singing, playing, teaching, writing. This led to two degrees in Music Education and a love affair with songwriting. After a quick trip to Nashville with songs in hand, I decided a successful career in songwriting would be impacted by subjection evaluation. So I went back to school and found a second passion that led to a Masters degree in Media Arts, which would allow me to pursue my combined interests of photography, recording, producing, directing, writing and editing.

During my career, I added another arrow to my quiver. As a certified Silva Method Instructor of dynamic visualization, I teach effective ways to take control of your mind, shift focus and fire up your intent. Using the latest scientific research, I create mental tools and exercises to overcome personal obstacles.

After a productive career in the film and television industry, I was called by nature. I felt the desire to support, defend and advocate for earth justice. I was a board member and director of the Earth Law Center, joined Al Gore's Climate Reality Leadership Corps in 2017, and chaired the San Fernando Valley Climate Reality chapter for six years. Along the way, I was honored as "Environmentalist of the Year" by Asm. Jesse Gabriel and received "Woman of the Year" recognition from CA Senator Henry Stein.

Why the sports theme? I love what sports brings out in us. Not just our competitive nature, but our desire to be good at something. Our willingness to 'get in the ring' or 'put on a glove' to catch what life is throwing at us. To learn "on the fly." I also love the heck out of being in nature. And almost all sports puts me in direct contact with nature. So...win-win.

Together, my passions, interests and skills—which now include being a Certified Tarot Advisor—have provided the basis for my unique approach to teaching, coaching and writing.

As Helen Keller said,

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all."

I choose adventure.
