Adventurer in Charge
M.M. Ed., M.M.A.
During my career in the film and television industry, I wrote over 15 "how-to" books on video software and equipment operations. For each book, whether it was about Photoshop, Avid or Final Cut Pro, I had to "crack the marble" of its purpose. I had to break down the often complex operations into bite-sized morsels of easily digestible information. And then arrange that information into actionable baby steps for artists and operators to absorb.
Before I entered the film and television business, I was finishing a Masters degree in Music Education. In the privacy of a practice room with just me and Chopin, I learned to break down my creative process into "baby steps" in order to reach my goals. I would knock out the notes in a passage, one by one, working them backward and forward until they were mine, until my fingers could find them each and every time. I learned about the power of baby steps.

Coming full circle, I've incorporated my "Baby Steps" approach from my music background with my "Cracking the Marble" technique I developed in my film and television training business. Together, they make up the basis for the unique approach I use in the Mastermind Your Life training curriculum.
EDIT OUT
During my career in the film and television industry, I wrote over 15 "how-to" books on video software and equipment operations. For each book, I defined bite-sized morsels of information then arranged them into how-to steps. It was as though I was looking inside the software to "crack the marble" of its purpose.
I’ve been a trainer for many years. I developed curricula and hands-on how-to training for artists in the film and television community who had to improve their operational skills on production and post-production software as well as complex production equipment, such as 4K cameras and video apps such as AVID, Final Cut Pro and Photoshop.
They had a job they had to step into on software or equipment they’ve never seen before. My job was to prepare them to
creative individuals for the work or project they had to step into next. Like—immediately.
After a productive career in the film and television industry, I started to redirect the focus of my attention. I was being called by just about anything that felt like an adventure—music, sports, the environment, creative writing. I started a business, 2nd Side Adventures, LLC, which became the umbrella company for the endeavors I wanted to pursue in the "2nd side" of my life.
The first side of my life was filled with music—singing, playing, teaching, writing. This led to two degrees in Music Education and a love affair with songwriting. After a quick trip to Nashville with songs in hand, I decided a career in songwriting would be a challenging pursuit. So I went back to school and pursued a second Masters degree, in Media Arts, which would allow me to pursue my combined interests of photography, recording, producing, directing and writing.
gone on this journey.
Along the road to embracing this change, I invested time in learning how to improve my ability to process projects—and myself. Then early in 2018, I decided to share what I had learned. I invited colleagues into a "mastermind" group to develop ways to pursue goals more efficiently. I applied my skills as an author and curriculum developer—a skill I honed leading a film and television training business for much of my career—to creating a new course. That course is "Mastermind Your Life."

Speaking of nature, for several years I've been on the board of Earth Law Center fighting for nature's rights. If a corporation can have standing in a court of law, why can't a river or a tree?
And I've recently become part of Al Gore's Climate Reality Leadership Training Corps. Protecting our environment has been and will continue to be a top priority for me. If you would like to host or attend a Climate Reality presentation, or discuss how you can advance rights of nature, contact me directly at: diana@masterlife.com.
